VR Training for the VV ECMO

A project with VRKure

The future in practical medical training and development.

Project Goals

VRKure comprises of senior surgeons, physicians, nurses and experienced technologists who are committed to building the next level AR/VR Medical solutions and deliver better patient outcomes. They believe that virtual reality will become a vital tool in clinical practice in the future. With validation from clinical studies and analytics, virtual reality will have mass adoption amongst progressive health care providers and device manufacturers.

We were approached to create a fully functional training module for operation of the VV ECMO life support machine.

The Experience

The user is put in an operation theatre where they get to operate on a patient and implement the VV ECMO machine. The machinery, settings and layout of the operation theatre are all designed according to industry specifications.

The user can adjust settings on the VV ECMO machine and practice using it. Mistakes will have consequences as indicated by machinery measuring heart rates, blood pressure, oxygen levels etc. Precision will be rewarded.

The Learning

The experience also offers a deep dive into the history of life support machines and the journey of innovation and scientific rigor that led to the development of the VV ECMO.

This presentation plays a vital role as it makes the user understand the limitations of prior life support machines. This gamification of learning and training aligns with VRKure’s mission to enhance medical training to ultimately dramatically increase positive patient outcomes.
